Attention 6th Grade Parents
The following information went home with students to parents last week. If any 6th grade parents have any questions or concerns, please contact Assistant Principal, Mrs. Bovino (bovinor@flaglerschools.com).
Dear Parent or Guardian:
Your child’s Comprehensive Health I class will be covering science topics related to reproduction and disease instruction beginning on May 21, 2024. We will be using the state adopted resources, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Comprehensive Science I Florida Science, to teach the required benchmark/standards.
Flagler Schools acknowledges that parents/guardians are the primary sexuality educators for their child/children and we are committed to partnering with you to provide supplementary resources to support you in this role. Parents/guardians have the right to opt your child out of any portion of the school district’s comprehensive health education required under 1003.42 (2) (0) that relates to sex education instruction in acquired immune deficiency syndrome education or any instruction regarding sexuality.
Please complete the opt-out form if you wish to opt your child out of this portion of the comprehensive health required instruction. The link to the digital Opt-out form can be found HERE. There is also a paper-form included with this email. Please complete/submit this form to your child’s school by April 26, 2024.
