Reading Takes Flight with 2 new Little Free Libraries

Reading Takes Flight with 2 new Little Free Libraries
Kristine Smith

Buddy Taylor Middle School is excited to invite families and community members to Reading Takes Flight, a series of family-friendly literacy outreach events designed to celebrate reading and expand access to books in our community.

Each event will include free food for everyone in attendance—a hot dog, chips, and a drink—along with free books and bookmarks for all. We will also be installing or reestablishing community lending libraries in two of the neighborhoods we proudly serve, helping ensure books are available to families year-round and encouraging students to read at least 15 minutes each day.

Event Details:

*Bunnell – G.W. Carver Gym
Wednesday, January 28 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

*Mondex – Hidden Trails Park
Thursday, January 29 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Everyone is welcome, and we encourage families to come out and enjoy the evening together.

We are grateful for the support of Epic Church, who graciously built and donated the lending libraries. Several community partners will also be on site, including Epic Church, the Flagler Public Library, and representatives from Flagler Schools, all focused on supporting literacy and student success.

To add to the fun, Kona Ice will be available for purchase, and students who have logged at least two hours of reading in January using the Beanstack application will receive coupons for a free Kona Ice.

These outreach events are part of a larger celebration of Literacy Week at BTMS, which will include fun activities, dress up days, and friendly competitions for our Eagle Scholars, such as a book swap, door decorating, and more happening on campus throughout the week.

We look forward to seeing our families and community come together as we help reading take flight for our Eagles.
