Summer Reading Challenge: Embark on our reading challenge!

May 2024

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Buddy Taylor Middle School encourages all students to read at least 15 minutes a day this summer for 5 days each week.  Help us reach our goal of 405 minutes for June through July.  We know they can do it!

Sign up by June 6th to participate!

We will be using an online reading log called Beanstack.  It is a free app in the app store.  You will be emailed your child’s log-in information when you sign up. Beanstack can also be accessed through your student’s Classlink account, or the BTMS Beanstack user sign-in link.

Don't want to use the online reading log?  Print a paper reading log here, or pick one up at the school's front office.

Besides achieving a digital badge each time they read 45 minutes, each participating school will be rewarding students with a small prize at the beginning of the new school year.

Don't forget that our Flagler County Public Library will have events for both children and teens this summer. Check out its calendar to learn about all of the events that are happening throughout the summer months.

Please contact Kris Smith, BTMS Media Specialist, with any questions.

Sincerely,

Kris Smith

The Branch

We would like to invite students to stop by The Branch Media Center at their convenience to check out or read a book or magazine, do research, or just to say hello.

Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program

The Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program (SSYRA) is a statewide reading program for students in grades 6–8.

The purpose of the SSYRA Program is to encourage students to read independently for personal satisfaction based on interest rather than just reading level. Students are encouraged to read books that are above, on, and below their tested reading level in order to improve their reading fluency and have a greater exposure to literature.
